McCracken Residence

Essendon

The second of three houses delivered for a repeat client and perhaps the most challenging, given the level of expectation. For this, the adopted theme is ‘resort living’ at home. A place of private sanctuary with all the trappings of luxury escapism.

The Materials and finishes were raised a notch from the first build, and the feel is very much palatial, inside and out. A limited number of finishes were adopted, predominantly highlighted by the extravagant use of rich, textured stone slabs, adorning both floors and feature wall areas throughout.

A basement level accommodates a large games room, bar and cinema. Garaging is at grade, along with all the family living areas opening to the garden, having strong visual connections to the central pool area.

All bedrooms are at first floor level with a linking catwalk that overlooks the family living space below.

Large metal screens opening from the face of the master bedroom windows, channel the view from this room directly down towards the pool and outdoor living space beyond.

There is a refined casual air throughout the home, complemented by the landscape treatments of Jack Merlo-Landscape Architect. The architecture is bold but not confronting, confident but not too ‘showy’. A stage set simply for relaxation and enjoyment.
